Valentine's Day Post
Valentine's Day Post

One of my favorite songs is "Reckless Love of God" by Cory Asbury. I become completely undone every time I listen to it. The idea that God’s love for us is so extravagant and relentless that He bankrupt heaven in pursuit of our hearts is incredible. What I struggle to comprehend is why He did this knowing that some of us would disobey Him, mock Him, reject Him, or even leave Him after experiencing His goodness.

On the special day dedicated to expressing our love, many are excited to celebrate with their significant others. Husbands and boyfriends are often running around frantically at the last minute, trying not to show up empty-handed. Okay, maybe not all of them, but I can picture some of them grabbing the last flimsy bouquet of wilting roses because they forgot! 👀 😂

On the flip side, there are wives and girlfriends who planned weeks ahead of time, ensuring they don’t miss hair, nail, and spa appointments. And then there are singles, either treating themselves for the day or others feeling left out, longing for a love to call their own. The point is, no matter what situation you find yourself in on Valentine’s Day, most of us desire to feel loved and to express our love in some way.

I want to direct you to a greater love. Greater than any love you have ever experienced or will ever experience from another human. It is the love of God. A love that chases you down. A love that will leave the ninety-nine just to find you every single time. A love so profound that Jesus, who is God, willingly humbled Himself as a man and was crucified to bear the punishment we all deserved. I know “punishment we all deserve” can be a hard pill to swallow, especially because religion often presents this message to you on a harsh platter cold without the heart of God. Although the truth of God’s Word can be offensive (sharper than a two edged sword), it should lead you to God, not away from Him. Did you know that Jesus would have died on that cross even if you were the only one in existence? An even harder pill to swallow.

His love goes out of its way to heal what’s been broken, restore what’s been lost, and redeem what cannot be earned.

Why?

It's incomprehensible so I won’t even attempt to explain. What I do know is that He calls us His masterpiece who He has fearfully and wonderfully made 🥰

My prayer is that you take some time to acknowledge Him. Talk to Him, as He desires a relationship with you. Open your Bible and allow Him to speak to your heart. He is not looking for religious people who honor Him with their lips while their hearts are far from Him.

If you feel that you’ve gone too far, remember that it’s never too late to repent (turn away from sin) and return to His loving arms. If you find it challenging to live a life of obedience, know that you are not alone. Following Christ means picking up your cross daily. Crucifying the flesh is far from easy but I encourage you to just stay close to Jesus. He says in John 14:15 (ESV), “If you love me, you will keep my commandments,” which reveals that obedience is a natural response to loving Him first.

So, thanks all. That's the post short, sweet and to the point.

I'm just a Disciple who wants to see heaven crowded 😁
